...yea... Tuesday was NOT a fun day...

Not only was our work day particularly long (dealing with problems at every turn does not make for an enjoyable 8 hours... -__-) but when we got home, Ray tried to turn on his Playstation 3 and it just flat out refused to work.... after spending $300+ on games and blu-ray movies the weekend before, and just THREE DAYS before the long awaited, feverishly anticipated Killzone 2 was to be released to stores nationwide.

Tuesday was NOT a fun day.

What it does now, instead of starting up properly, is begin to go through the various processes of startup... then fail and turn back off. The indicator flashes, turns yellow and then back to red after beeping twice.

What happened was that my brother (who has February vacation this week) was playing Fallout 3, when (we think) we experienced a quick lose of power - a blip really - and the Playstation turned off - while autosaving his game. After that, he couldn't get it to turn back on, so he just played Left 4 Dead til we got home.

So, anyway... we called Sony, and they think it's one of a couple circumstances..

1) The power blip caused a power surge, which caused the PS3 to turn off as a safety measure... However, because the unit wasn't unplugged or had the back power turned off, it fried the power supply.

2) Because the unit was autosaving at the exact second of the power blip, it caused the HD to become corrupt, and so the unit will not turn back on as a safety measure.

3) The PS3 overheated due to dust build-up in the cooling system fans, and shut off to avoid being fried from the inside out... as a safety measure.

Given that his PS3 is over 2 and a half years old, we think the ladder is more plausible. Although we try to keep it clean of dust and such, shit happens.

In either case, we're sending it to Sony to be fixed, HOPING AGAINST HOPE that all it needs is a good internal cleaning, and the HD won't be totally lost. Although the chances are about 1 in ten billion that all the data on the HD won't be gone forever. :C

Anyway, Wednesday we spent what was left of our tax returns on another PS3, although technically, the new one is MINE C: We had talked about getting another one for me before... and now seemed like the time to invest. Now I can play Motorstorm and Guitar Hero III whenever I want!! >8D Well... we I get my TV anyway >_>

Needless to say, Ray has been enjoying Killzone 2 thoroughly all weekend ^_^... he had this to say,

"KILLZONE IS BETTER THAN YOUR LIFE." >8C
