Description A project I worked on for Battlestar Galatica. This is the mineral ship from the original show (not the new one). I was working with my partner Eder Navas. I built the back engine, the pipes connecting the discs and the bottom details of the discs. Eder did the rest of the work on the discs. Took us about 5 days, working 6 hours a day. 30 hours total. Comments and suggestions welcome!

wow that's a high res mod! xD !! do you ever use normal map ? we used that in 3DRT to project more details one a low poly base mod !

awesome piece! i'm not able to work high poly models but on zbrush, Maya or 3D coat x_x;;
it must cost a long time to render a picture xD;

Oh yea, I made that in Lightwave, no normal maps, thats all nurnies and grievels I modeled.

It was made with me and Eder, I did the back engine, the piping connecting the dicks and the bottom of the discs.

This too was made in lightwave, takes a good 5-10 min per frame when rendering, lol

Well either way it's got a great level of detail on the back section.

Is somebody else going to be doing the texturing?

Well that depends on the project, but someone else will texture it eventually, lol.

They wanted as little texturing needed as possible, so I had to model pretty much 90% of the detailing. Its a simple texture job as is, lol.

Yeah, that's true... they wouldn't have to do much beside add some over all colour and a bit of grime. Must take a bit longer to render this way though?

lol, yea. With 5 pass AA on it and raytracing on its about a 5 min render. Once you throw some textures on im sure itll take longer, lol
