Well, (aside from morbidity) the effects of the sky and the mushroom cloud are good; but they're softer, which leads me to believe the boy and girl with their sharp lines are where the "camera"'s focus should be--instead, they're stripey and have holes in them (and I don't think the wave's hit them yet).

All of this zipped through my head before I read your comment that this was your first colored digital painting. I think that this is very good for any first. Just fill in the gaps in the children and their shadows, and you're good to go for a slightly cartoony look (mostly due to the cloud-wave).

And thus, I have commented. But you still haven't posted a drawn self portrait.
