Description for

kozieBubble asked for help regarding semirealism, a more painterly style an making the eyes pop. She also liked to have some glow effects.
i think the trick in general with making things "pop" in an image is creating contrast with detail, value and saturation.
this means to make the eyes pop and glow, I'd make them iris very saturated, and detail it a lot in comparison to the rest of the picture. in contrast I'd desaturate things like the horns and the jewellery to make it less dominant.
A vignette effect is pretty cool when you work with protraits, because it leads the light to the main focal point, which is the eyes in most portraits.
except of this I'd also try to make the body more 3-dimensional by putting making portruding things like the nose brighter and "valleys" of the face less bright.
there are also places where the skin is naturally more red, like the ears, the nose or the cheeks...I'd put a bit more red/warm pink there since it looks like the character is more alive.
for a more semirealistic style, try ditching some of the lines and try to work with areas of different value touching with a hard edge.
