Damn this is fun

This is a character I adapted from a Visual Novel I was making. I like her style and personality, so I wanna work more with her.
I realized she'd be a hell of a stand-out figure in RWBY....

all the characters are based on somebody, so I'm assembling a team
Kanayan "Kana" Maria [based on Bloody Mary] - Able to control her blood as a weapon
Telsa-Kai Nikolov [based on Nikola Tesla] - Able to reverse damage
Lazarus "Laz" Revye [based on Sleeping Beauty] - Able to create and control thorns
Verander Godson [based on Death's Godson]

it's Team VKLT [Violet], with Verander acting as the leader

So, here we go!

     Verander Godson, age 16 [as of the time of Season 5]
Based on: Death's Godson

Verander is a quiet, assertive and collected young woman. Most describe her as incredibly unbiased, treating most people equally (that is,with great disinterest). She has an interest in death, often remarking on the poetry and equality of it. While she would never look to kill another person, she has no interest in the Grimm, making it rather easy to slay them. She has few emotional attachments, so her fight against the Grimm has no emotional stakes for her like it would for Telsa-Kai. She never instigates fights with people, seeing them as pointless. She doesn't understand Laz's emotionally-driven actions, but she admires the merits of his passion and wishes she could allow herself to be more passionate.
Verander's withdrawn and distant appeal is caused by the fact many people around her die. She tends to know when a person may die soon, as she can "feel" death. She has come to terms with goodbyes being an important and inevitable part of life, so she has chosen to withdraw herself. She also knows intense emotion can cause her power to act up.
That being said, while she may be reserved, she enjoys odd styles and colors in her wardrobe. It is a way of expressing herself as well as honoring a person in her past who loved that side of her.
While she may be cold, she has a love for life and believes that, while death comes to everybody, one should focus on making their life and the lives of others better. She seeks to destroy the Grimm so that the people inhabiting the world may die one day without fear or pain, and so they can focus on living happier lives instead of fighting or fearing. This is a naive goal that she is completely aware of, but feels abandoning or denying her path would be betraying what her heart desires.
Though she has good intentions, her distance to people causes her to come across as an Ice Queen -- she's blunt and rather disinterested, quick to criticize, and often makes a monotone mockery of foolish ideas presented to her. Still, she has the tactical know-how and leadership skills to back up her attitude.

Verander's weapon is called Candlelight. It is a sickle attached to a chain, and a Dust Lantern on the other end. The lantern burns Dust, which she keeps stored in the crystals on her poncho. By burning the different kinds of Dust, they create a radius of effect that affects those within it (for example, one kind would allow allies to power-up within the radius, others would acceleterate recover, etc.). These effects also branch out to her enemies as well.
Verander's Semblance is Nullification, which allows her to completely cancel as well as sense semblances. With Dust, she can nullify the effects of Dust too, and widen her radiusof effect. However, Verander has a non-semblance ability that allows her to create Spirit Fire, aka the blue fire in her lantern, which allowsher to use her lantern as a weapon as well. The spirit fire is like regular fire but cannot be exstinguished with normal water (it has to be blessed). The fire doesn't go out, but grows weaker when she is weakened as well. It will be extinguished at some point after she dies, but only she can blow it out.

            [The flame is actually her soul -- only a certain person can reignite her soul. If she dies but her lantern is still lit, she can ressurect herself. In exchange for this power-up, her body has become fragile and she can tell when a person, specifically an ill or injured person, might die.]

Verander's references to Death and "Death's Godson"
Black poncho "robe", skull designs, and "business attire" are reference to usual depictions of death (with a stylized flare)
Sickle is in reference to Death's Scythe
Lantern is in reference to the candles of life in the story of Death's Godson.
Her surname. Take a wild guess.
I have a moment planned where she stays by the side of a sick friend, sitting by the head of the bed. Before the audience knows the friend is going to die, Verander is seen siting at the foot of the bed. This is in reference to how Death would alert the godson of whether or not he was allowed to save a patient.
Verander carries around medicinal herbs she cultivated. They're very effective. This is in reference to the herb Death gave his/her godson for the ruse.
Her semblance and general attitude are in reference to how "Death makes all equal".
