Description After watching a map about German language dialects , I put several crazy ideas in a cocktail shaker and I shook it. I got this map about an alternate history world. We can see:
  • Federal Republic of Sudria [it could be its English name] (Busdesrepublik Süderreich) - a federal country consisted of four länder: Alamannia (Alamannien), Bavaria (Bayern), Switzerland (Schweiz) and Eastern March (Ostmark). No cantons in Switzerland, French and Italian are not spoken in that state. These territories from OTL are part of Alamannia: Baden-Württemberg, Hesse beyond river Main, part of Rhineland-Palatinate and French departments Haut-Rhin, Bas-Rhin and Territoire de Belfort. Ostmark is Austria and Liechtenstein from OTL. Capital cities and flag are shown in the map. Federal capital city is Vienna.
  • Hegelian Republic of Prussia (Hegelianische Republik Preußen) - an unitary country whose official doctrine is Hegelianism. It's north of Germany and Luxembourg from OTL. Berlin is its capital city. Flag and main cities are shown in the map.
  • Grand Duchy of Saarland - a little independent country as Luxembourg in OTL. Capital city and flag are shown in the map.

What is the PoD? How did South Tyrol end up in Italy?

Süderreich! Ahaha...
Well, I think Südreich would sound better in German. Also, I kinda dislike the name Ostmark. You used Bavaria and Alemania... these names are latin... so why not use the name Austria? And I think that the map of German dialects you took a look at is very inaccurate.

Here is a better one:
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…

Most of Bavaria and all of Austria (except Vorarlberg!) is populated by people who speack in Bavarian dialects.

Another map:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bavarian…

People from German Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Baden-Württemberg (and also form Vorarlberg!) speak Alemannic dialects.

And yet another map for dialects:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alemanni…

So if you want to form the borders according to German dialects... I would suggest that you unify Austria and Bavaria next time. The same goes for Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Baden-Württemberg (and Voralrberg!).

You could also think of removing the non-German areas of Switzerland or about adding south Tyrol to Austria... but I guess you wouldn't want that.

Nice map. I am not too fond of the flags though.

Thanks for the info and links. Well, I know, I didn't want to elaborate a map based on dialects exactly but only join southern lands where Upper German dialects are spoken, approximately. I chose "Ostmark" because I didn't want an Österreich inside Süderreich and that is a Germanic name. Austria could be an alternative good name, it is Latin though. And, yes, you're right, I won't add Alto Adige to Austria... XD

I see. Well, at least you paid attention to my info.
And by the way... officially Südtirol/Alto Adige is called South Tyrol in English.^^

I don't know but German-speaking people are in the majority.

Great, Hegelianism as a political doctrine. The nuclear bombs are getting dust.
