Description Map about a fictional country: the Occitan Republic. It would gain independence from France, its capital city would be Marselha (Marseille) and the Occitan language would become the official language, Catalan and Basque languages would be spoken too. Borders between departments would not be modified but exclaves would be removed. The departments would be grouoped into six regions according to Occitan dialects, so they would be:
  • Provença (Provence) - Capital city: Marselha (Marseille)
  • Lengadòc (Languedoc) - Capital city: Montpelhièr (Montpellier)
  • Gasconha (Gascony) - Capital city: Tolosa (Toulouse)
  • Lemosin (Limousin) - Capital city: Limòtges (Limoges)
  • Auvèrnhe (Auvergne) - Capital city: Clarmont-Ferrand (Clermont-Ferrand)
  • Vivarés e Aups (Vivarais and Alps) - Capital city: Valença (Valence)

Toulouse is the historical capitale of Languedoc, the historical capitale of Gascogne is either Bordeaux or Auch.

Yes, it's weird but you know, Toulouse is in the border between dialects but gascon dialect is spoken in most of the department of Haute-Garonne, so I chose to put it in Gascon region and establish Toulouse as the regional capital city.

Well Toulouse is clearly languedocian, and you misread the maps : the languedocian dialect is the most spoken dialect of Haute-Garonne, the greatest part of the population is in the north of Garonne and in Toulouse, the southern part is mainly mountainous with less inhabitants.
