you wanna know whats bizarre? i was watching king od the hill and then played tf2 (while i was watching king of the hill at the same time, i'm a rebel) and some guy started refrencing hank. now the show is almost over and out of the blue i see this. hank in tf2. XD

Seriously, the amount of damage it does is ridiculous. Why even bother with puffing then?

Depends on how you define credit to team. Sure, puffing burning people is credit.
However, waiting in a corner where enemy team is coming out and backburn them can be pretty credit as well (especially on capture the point maps).
But anyway, we digress.

Puffing just has so much more uses than plain boosted damage.

True, but 80% of the time is see Pyros who use puff turtling instead of actually starting chaos on the enemy team.
That might be effective on some situations but as I said, I prefer doing a lot of damage to the enemy, killing them or forcing them to retreat.

I tend to have a bone to pick with all the Offense classes. (FaN Scouts are ridiculous, Pyros are easy mode, and Soldier's are spam like idiots)

True, but there are also ways to play those classes legit...it's just, most people on the game don't feel like it.

If there was no way to play the easy way, then TF2 would be a terrible terrible game.
All games should be as easy to play and be competent at as possible.Not to say that skill and depth isn't necessary either..
Oh, and I am living proof it takes skill to be a Pyro, for I am rediculously terrible at it. I miss with that flamethrower constantly.

Yep. Instead of seeing soldiers watching a point, they always just run off to spam missiles at turrets, from too far for the turrets to shoot back. -_- Demoman winds up being used for spawn-camping. Lather, rinse...etc. 
It's hard to say the right way to use the Pyro, since that class seems to upset everyone, in some way or another...but just because it's more versatile, and doesn't require a precise aim. If you're a spy, you hate how good the Pyro can be at spy-checking. If you're in a rushing party, that sets up forward points, you hate the Pyro -- because people stop paying attention, and they let one sneak in behind, to be the 'ambush' character a lot of people say they are. I'm not in the camp that thinks Pyros are OP...but I do think it can be easy to hate them, since they can always be used against you....
