I really like this Matt. I would like to see you do away with the unnecessary lines though. All the vertical lines on his pants, face and the shadow of his coat do not need to be there. I think you may be fighting the urge to just have the sketch, or drawing, be what it needs to be. I just emailed you.

Really good point. Sadly that was a late night after thought RIGHT before i was done w/ the drawing. You're totally right.
Thanks for the draw-over. I know i've got big fears of doing large spot blacks unless it was part of the plan from the beginning. Like with this one, i had done the linework first (before really giving any thought to shadow work) then i was too chicken shit to mess up the lines with some solid shadows like you did.

I see a bit of Spirit feeling too in him. However he's avery cool character and as I said the color scheme you created is cool too. It works fine

yeah, the first incarnation of the BlueBeetle was a Spirit ripoff, so there will be that similarity when i ripoff THAT character. Ha!
