"Windcharger: Return To Sender"Like many of the original Transformers , Windcharger 's special powers - in his case, magnetism - were often underexploited in the cartoon and comics .
(Well, except there was a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure-style book where if you chose to turn to page 17, Windcharger would accidentally TEAR THE DINOBOTS TO SHREDS IN A MAGNETIC STORM. But besides that.)

You bring up an interesting point... I don't think any other TF has ever been given magnetic powers. Think if a Decepticon had that ability, and they got into a fight. That could be epic.

I'd have also loved to see his special power put to better use in G1. He's got quite a dangerous ability if it is exploided properly! >=3 Just figure it out, he literally has the chance to rip an opponent's central core without even touching them!

Why not put him in the new Prime series but then again they'd just kill him off or make him leave for no decent reason.

Thank you! I'm glad you like the hands - I consider them one of the most important elements of a portrait. And, yeah, as with Makeshift, I think his ability would be a little too powerful for the Prime writers to allow him to live.

I like, i wish more people paid attention to those powers. They almost never make it into the show unless you're talking about the most popular robots. And even then only half of their attacks...

Yeah, it didn't occur to me until recently how superheroic the original cast was. As a kid, it always struck me as odd that these robots couldn't/wouldn't mass-produce whatever technology gave them individual powers, but now I see that it was a natural extension of their personalities having been created by a comic-book writer .
And you're right that, even still, a lot of those powers were underused. But at least that made for a nice treat now and then when something from a tech-spec bio would appear out of nowhere, like when Megatron actually used his black-hole-antimatter ability in one comic.

This is very wonderfully done- I love the colors and especially the way you did the power flow around his hands (and the fact that they're reflected off the missiles). Poor mini-bots are always so over looked.

Funny thing - he's a tiny minibot with the abilities of the strongest mutant of the Marvel-Universe - Magneto!
Glad you choose his comic/cartoon form, it looks much better then the toy. Actually, I have a kitbashed Windcharger (dunno who did it, got it in an Ebay lot) that looks just like his comic appearance.
Windcharger was highly underused, but he had his day. In the Marvel UK story "Raiders of the Last Ark", one of the earliest Furman stories, he and Ravage had to team up to save both factions from the Ark's malfunctioning computer. Windcharger even saved OP's life by hurling Megatron out of the Ark with his power!!!

Yeah, my preference is generally to start with the Dery model and add toy elements as necessary to make for a plausible transformation. And I actually do remember that story - I suppose the "system overload" thing is a decent workaround to make him less than deific, but that's really no excuse for the fact that he NEVER used his powers again.

Well, we can hope he makes another appeareance in IDW. A Spotlight maybe? He'd be funny to see in a Marvel X-Men crossover, fighting against Magneto.

This really is an awesome piece of work and it inspired a similar scene in an in-progress ficlet I've been poking at recently. I still love this and I blame it entirely for my love of Windcharger.

By the way, I recommend using TFwiki.net instead of the Wikia site you linked to. The community that created the Wikia site moved to TFwiki.net a year and a half ago, and the info on TFwiki gets updated a lot more frequently and with more reliability.

Anyone who likes the Chargemeister is a-ok in MY book. Ive always imagined him as the Bruce Campbell of the TF Universe. A Wise-cracking but painfully blunt badass with a humorous edge.
This guy seriously needs more toys made of him. Even repaints in the "Universe" line would be welcome. God knows theres way too many Prowls.

I was thinking maybe he could pick up small metal objects like pinballs or bo;ts and use magnetic force to fire them like a railgun.
I have that Alternators. My heart broke when I dicovered his bumpr on his left ankle had broken.
