The Swedish king Karl XI (Charles XI) tried to use elks (moose) as a substitute for the expensive horses. He never managed to train them though even if he had them brought up from they where pups (foals?), I thought I'd give them another chance though, they are pretty common in our country.Related content

here they'd try to use squirrels; they're really overpopulated but i don't have the heart to kill one

Same went for zebras and others. Not such a good temperament for domestication. Many have tried, all have failed, basically speaking. It is the nature of those beasts.
