His facial expression and just how gingerly he's putting the helmet back on his robotic friend--absolutely perfect. Glad the gang's back together : ')

You want heart-mush? This is how you get heart-mush. You're gonna have me in a puddle before this is through. The tender, caring look on his face is masterfully done. I can't get enough of your work.

I read a trilogy recently (the last book released just a few days ago, in fact) about an older swordsman who had effectively retired after being framed by a rival and disgraced. He became an alcoholic and lost his athletic physique, but was called upon to serve the throne and had to make it work despite being out of shape and rusty at all the things at which he had once been considered the best. The Dragonslayer trilogy by Duncan M. Hamilton, if you're interested. My younger brother got me the first one for my birthday and it took me months to find time to read it, but once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down.

But, pertaining to your actual comment, I agree. It would be wonderful to see more stories of "heroes outside the golden window", as you put it. Turning tropes on their head (is trope the right word?) is one of my favorite things in media.

Thank you! I used to be quite the bookworm and have been wanting to get back into reading. I'll have to check those out.

Henry Walton Jones Junior would disagree.

I think we ought to do a better job at celebrating the other roles too. There's no adventure without a Sam, Gandalf, etc...

My guess is the sword has a "story" or something etched on it and makes the big-baddie "understand" something he has been searching for.
