Description A somniloquist is one who speaks in their sleep; more specifically someone who does this regularly. As a narcoleptic with an inability to leave NREM/REM sleep for hours, this is a regular occurrence.

I wanted this to be almost macabre, almost surreal, almost digital, almost antiquated.

my mom talks in her sleep a lot. i'll have to show this to her and see what she says. i, however, enjoy it very much. good work.

"I wanted this to be almost macabre, almost surreal, almost digital, almost antiquated" is what you say, and I think you're hiting it. Congratulations!
Very special picture: it strikes you in the first time, and there's much details to discover in a second time.

awesome style! its extremely rare to see manipulation in this way. i guess it is not aesthetically popular to pixelate images in this way, but this looks really effective!

hmz.. the idea to cover the part of a face with those squares.. aahh.. thaats nice
it kinda played tricks with my memory and i remebered one of my exgirls who talked in sleep.. well.. she just told me everything in sleep till one night she told me about a guy she once cheeted me with... you know.. this looks kinda like how i would imagine his face...
well.. when she woke up.. she had to explain herself... and she did.. but she started to explain about another man.. so she basiclu cheeted me twice

wow what a horrible story. well, a lot of times you can't take what people who talk in their sleep say too seriously.. a lot of times its indicative of things theyve been thinking about but its often as nonsensical as a dream. sorry to hear about that

haha yes it looks quite horrible as a thumbnail. im glad you like it, i used this as an opportunity to try a new style and try to convey what having to stay in nightmare-NREM mode for hours a night is like, where half of you is awake and terrified and the other half is punishing you with all the neurotic tendencies and ideas you filter out all day long.. in one sense a more clear representation of yourself than you could ever admit, but at the same time infinitely blurred by the surreal haze of dream.

I especially liked the upturned eye, the hands attempting to cover the mouth (an attempt to stifle the sleep speech?), and the mouth-shaped left hand.

Somniloquists were fairly common in the military as sleep was always at a premium - having a conversation with one while suffering a lack of sleep yourself was always interesting.

The parts I really want to focus on are distorted; that really attracts me to this deviation.

It's very difficult to really critique a photo manipulation or abstract piece. I think that it's a very great design and a nice use of lighting and variety of element. Overall I say it looks great. Nice job.

Thank you, I know not everyone feels qualified to comment on everything. I know I don't, but I appreciate your honest appraisal. Thanks very much.
