Description Its finally finished!!! This took the better part of three months worth of work. I originally started this last year in March and worked on it a little then and again in june. I finally got around to dedicating my time to it just after I finished the image titled "Minami Yaguchi." Three of the characters from this image ended up as space filler in the Minami image and in turn I ended up putting her and the D3 character in this image for fun. I have to admit I am glad I didn't finish this last year at any time cause looking back over the images I have finished since I started this one I realize how much I learned doing those images and how that knowledge was used here!

I have to confess that from the beginning I had an idea of what I wanted but wasn't sure how it was all going to fit if it was going to fit at all. I wanted 8 people per side in the foregound around the cars and their drivers but due to space and camera angle I had to change things. As a result one guy is missing from the crowd on the right and the two girls standing at the back next to the Lotus were suppose to be with the crowd on the left. I may do up a collage of test renders that show somewhat how progress went.

I can't say there was any one thing that was easy about this. I quite enjoy the challenge of posing characters for my scenes but I have to be honest it was something else piecing this together when I didn't even know how I was going to fit the next character in. After the poses were finished I was at a stand still trying to figure out if I should start on the lighting or the surfaces next. An idea finally poped into my head and that was to do up all the surfaces under what I considered to be good daylight lights cause if the surfaces look good under daylight, they will look just as good at night. I am so glad I did it that way too!!!!!

If anyone is looking to pull off something this size or even smaller the best advice I can give is to set everyone up as seperate saved scenes and then merge them all together (but do not save) for the render.

You will all have to forgive me as I will not be listing the complete credits or even close to what all was used.

Basic Credits:
A3 x 11,H3 x 9, M3 x 1 & D3 x 1
Backstreets, The Warehouse District and Urban Sprawl II by Stonemason
FF Tuner, Elite Racer and the Wraith by Dreamscape Creations
Lounge Mobile by Uzilite
Some free stuff for H3
Loads of stuff from DAZ3D
Most A3 characters by Thorne and Sarsa (Sylfie is front and center and Mulberry is in there twice!)
4 characters have Sunglasses
All but 2 guys have hair by Neftis
pwSurface2 is on all visable surfaces except eyes

Poses, Lights & Expressions by me.

No one is wearing any underware and sorry there is no Waldo to be found either!

You're welcome.

I have to admit it was a lession I learned the hard way when I originally attempted to make the Omega12 pic.  The original version had 6 Aiko3s saved in the scene and it took 30 min to load or save.  Finally the file got too big and DS would not load it.

If you ever do a night scene, I would recommend setting up all your surfaces under day time lighting and then do night lights last.

Thank you!

I have played a lot of Need for Speed and that was the main influence. I did not watch any of the F&F movies until the 5th one.

Fantastic Image. I'm trying a huge scene at the moment, so will have to split it as you suggested

Highly recommended that you break it down. If you do then its much easier to go back in and correct little things here and there on one character without having to waste time loading everything else thats not needed. Easier on the system at the same time.

ya...i cant help but make sound effects or feel like im about to play Need 4 Speed. Speaking of which, want to guess which of the N4S games influenced this the most?

caboose11l2 In reply to mattymanx [2010-04-12 18:15:03 +0000 UTC]

Undergroud... Wait no Carbon.
Ya me too. Aw man I love those Vettes and Cudas but still I love Tunners. The RX-8 is a good all around car so is Miata MX-5 in Underground 2. What about you? You got that one special car?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mattymanx In reply to caboose11l2 [2010-04-12 18:37:03 +0000 UTC]

Well, first off the N4S game that carried the most influence is "Most Wanted" Can you spot the Josie Maran influence???

But if I remember correctly, in Underground I prefered the Miata which could be used to beat the game on the PC unlike the PS2 and in Underground II it was the Nissian 240. Though in Most Wanted I had to go with my favorite, the Lamborghin Gallardo. Just wish I could have gotten it sooner in the game!

Damn it I love that one! My fav car is either the GT or the Clio Ya the Miata is quite impressive heck I have seen quite a few racing varients around here recently... Personally I have never really like Lambos... I don't know why I just don't. Don't get me wrong the are great cars! I just don't really like them.

Its alright. I never really had an appriciation for the street cars until after I played the Underground series. As for super cars, I can relate as Ferraris do nothing for me at all. Never cared for them!

Me either I don't get them... Ferraris. Give me a Porsche and I am happy... Actually my dream car is a 1972 Vette Stingray all white with wire rims and white wall tires.. Oh and also custom exaughst coming out the side.

Impressive scene setup O_O

Is this the backstreets scene?

How many GB of RAM do you have to load that many characters?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mattymanx In reply to teturo [2010-04-05 04:25:33 +0000 UTC]

The Backstreets is the main part of the set. There are two other Stonemason sets as well but they are behind the camera cause I wanted them reflected in the cars and windows but you cant tell. Though it does look better then the illuminated sky dome reflection. On average it took between 4-5GB of RAM to merge the 20 scenes together in DS.
