This is a comission for of his character Nephryst (pose requested), and it's also the first commission using a simpler shading but also a reduced price. Hope you will like it!

Glad you liked the idea. Was thinking of how to put a different spin on some kinds of elemental magic and thought it'd be interesting to create a fighting style out of it, involving manipulating weapons. Should make for some fun skills in-game.Β

Well, what program did you use, how do you color and shade, and with what tablet? I only have a small Bamboo Fun tablet, and I am not good at inking (I use the pen tool in Photoshop instead).

I used mostly Paint tool Sai for this one, although I also use photoshop for coloring. I ink with Sai , it's easier than photoshop and the line is crispier. I din't try Manga studio, I heard it's also pretty good. I have a Cintiq, it's more comfortable but it's not something that will make you suddenly draw like a god. Before I used a Graphire (the tablet before the Bamboo XD). Also for shading it's only basic tachnique, with a layer for shadows ^^

The brushes I use are usually in photoshop from the start, that plus some I got on the net (several years ago so I don't remember where). Most of the texture effect is done simply by applying a texture in overlay mode.

Can you tell me what the names of the brushes are, and where to find them in Photoshop? The only brushes I'm familiar with are the round ones.

Thank you! I wanted to see how I could do something else with the plain old elemental magic thing and figured it would be nice to combine it with controlling the weapons. I'm sure it's been done somewhere, just like everything, but I wanna make it fun for the players to be able to control it too. :>

A platformer game I intend to make, yes. (And eventually a full RPG, depending on the success of the platformer.)
I've got mostly concept work with the characters and some documentation on the story. I've also got some songs made and some areas planned out, as well as the battle system planned, but there's only so much one person can do, these days. Solo projects are severely limited in development time and by the skills and free time of one person. At this stage, it's only a little bit past "an idea", but it'll certainly happen.Β
