Description
Crystal Knight is an idea have for an action comedy about a gal named Shahra, who uses magic crystals with a variety of purposes. One of these crystals turns into a magic sword.
I actually conceived of this character before I conceived of Ricky Raptor, although at the time she was just called the Crystal Knight. Because I originally imagined the Crystal Knight as a female version of myself--taking inspiration from Sailor Moon's Moonlight Knight and The Legend of Zelda's Sheik--I can easily imagine Shahra in a same-sex relationship, so her main love interest is a gal named Alana.
The inspiration I chose for Crystal Knight's art style comes from the ending sequence for The Rolling Girls, one of my favorite anime, as well as the artworks of Minayuyu from DeviantArt and Garouma from Tumblr.
I regret my choice of color for the pants. I probably should have used silver for the outline, and slate for the fill, instead of the other way around. I normally test out the colors I want to decide on by making small marks on the edges of the paper, and then compare them. I did that, but even then I had trouble making out which was darker between the two until I actually used them for the pants. Although, I think either way, it wouldn't have come out light enough for what I want.
