Inspired by HG Wells's "The Isle of Dr Moreau" novel of course, this is for the "Orange Sun / Far Tomorrows" TTRPG setting.

As I write this it seems WoTC and Hasbro are going for a control and price gouging scheme, which is good because we "Indie" guys can go totally Indie and break from being a satellite. As far as I'm concerned, D&D died when the corporate pigs introduced V4 and kept ruining it going forward. Long live D&D 3.5 and earlier.

Easy to make up some familiar feel but different rules since game mechanics can't be copyWRONG protected.

On that note I'm also going away from the surface of "The Classic RPG"'s seeming dependency on Tolkien. I was always more a Lord Dunsany fan and seeing his "Estate" let Amazon use his coffin for their septic tank really put me off. There are SO many awesome old authors to rip, including those far more into the Public Domain - such as HG Wells.

This is a TTRPG set in the far future. It's technically science fantasy but functionally is like a RPG world. Near a million years in the future there is a long distant past but far in our future where "Wizard-Lords" changed reality and created Magic. The aftershocks of their rule and the many rises and falls of civilization before and after created this world full of odd creatures, magic, layer after layer of "Dungeons" to explore.

Instead of Demi-Human I think I'll use "Abhuman" as the term. (hodgekin, the night land, house on the borderland) Its by definition prejudicial, how humanity sees others that are different and very unfair. Some beings like the "Bovine" people (Evolved Minotaurs, mostly NPCs) are considered human along with those stuck in odd bodies by rare genetic lottery such as the "Lolita" class. (all female, high magic stats, low defense) The Alloi aka "Eloi" or "Elves" are considered beautiful and prized companions. But there are creatures living in the deep wastes that are different and disturbing and often killed on sight. I am against "Political Correctness" in that it dodges the realities of the world. Certainly I'm not for bigotry based on mere appearance or 'race' but the real world has such situations and I think such instances will help people see it is wrong versus hiding the dark ugly realities. I doubt anyone would come away racist who wasn't already thus.

However most "Furries" aka "Beast-Persons" live in a semi-second class situation. They are considered less than mankind, the victims of the vile whims of the Wizard-Lords who were often mad with power and would degrade humanity or change him at a whim. Thus they are under "The Law" as seen by the Agnost Orthodox Church (clerics) and under their care. The Agnost Priests keep them from being enslaved or too unfairly treated but may command them including mustering them for a hunt as these are on now. They are people not disposable, above animal but less than Men. Thus the priest will guide them and protect them, but if there's a problem he can summon a LOT of help. He'd get in deep trouble if he used them as fodder to fight a dragon and many got killed, but for instance a missing person (lost child or criminal adult) or stolen artefact... "See? This is the case where the mummified arm of Saint Peitor the Reluctant is carried? Some horrible person STOLE it... Now sniff the velvetteen cushion's fabric... Good? Now let us hunt for what was stolen. That is the LAW, are we not MEN?"

In short it is possible to be a "Furry" in this world but there are some rules around it to compensate for the animal skills and strength.
