The lighting makes this photo. I love how eerie this is.

The lighting is wonderful. The slight motion to the lamp adds to the tension of the image (most of which your model provides with that wide-eyed stare). Your compositional lines are really well placed, although I think you may have been able to crop a smidgen closer until the lit slats actually extend off the left edge. I think it may have tricked the mind into perceiving those lines as longer simply because they have no end. That little mind game would add to the suspense of the image (as the mind subconsciously works to complete it).
I love details and I adore that you can see the cobwebs between the slats and behind. The anticipatory way that he is holding his mouth--not yet a smile, but its as if he wants to smile--he knows that some delicious little thing is on its way, and as your title suggests, he need only wait.
Overall this image has a strong story with it--that is a powerful image, not just something pretty to look at.
