Description Walking with my husband and youngest son when my son spotted this kookaburra sitting on a dead tree. I adore kookaburras but they like to keep their distance so this is the best shot I've managed to get so far!
I really value every comment, , and I can no longer thank everyone for Faves individually, but please know that I'm grateful and very happy to receive them, they mean a lot.

Oh, that sounds wonderful, though I haven't heard it. I had an Australian teacher in primary school in England and she taught us a 'round' song named 'Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree'. I love that song still. We thought she was crazy because she would shut the window blinds on a hot day. Now I've lived in Australia I understand completely LOL

Ha ha - just YouTube searched and it's the same song. It's so nice sung in 3 pieces as a round!

Oh I love to hear them! I once heard that if you hear kookaburras laughing you will have luck. I used to hear them many mornings in our old house, but rarely from here. However, this house has brought us more luck LOL
