This is the life story of these eucalyptus tree flowers. They begin as the small, lidded capsules, as seen in the top-left corner but as they grow the cap pops off. You can see that happening in the lower centre of the photo. Then you can see the pink tendrils tucked in ready to emerge, followed by the way they look after they've burst out. A fascinating process - in my opinion anyway
