When I watched The Mane Attraction, Svengallop immediately reminded me of Zeb from G1's Bright Lights story.Although Zeb was a MUCH darker villain, I wouldn't be surprised if he mentored Svengallop in their profession...

Yeah, i was also remembered of him. But Svengallop kinda looks like the pony Zeb manages(dont remember his name), so i thought the show got inspired by those two to make sven

Indeed, Svengallop does bear some resemblance to Night Shade. I've heard some folks joke about Svengallop actually being Night Shade gone to the dark side.
