I think its because how immature and violent a good CHUNK of the NS fans reacted towards Kishimoto and the NH fans that I have very little respect for anything regarding the pairing or its more deranged supporters. I don't mind people having their own fantasy, but this is using the same method of portrayal The Last had and it kind of made me wince seeing it here. Sure, its nicely done, but I can't get over the fact this is done in a way that's stealing from the NH fan base for the sake of a NS piece.
As a side note, I have nothing but respect for Sakura as a character, even MORE after watching The Last in theaters. She's grown into a great supportive friend that someone like Naruto needs by his side, but not in that way. The fact there has never been an insinuation that Sakura has EVER felt romantic interest in Naruto and yet, somehow a Ship still exists, is what burns me up. Then again, this is the series that had a NaruSasu Ship because Kishi wanted to make that gag kiss as a funny thing and every Yaoi fan went all spastic.Β
Bottom line, if people want to make an AU if Naruto and Sakura actually possessed chemistry, they can do that. But stealing from moments shared between the legitimate couple that is Hinata and Naruto makes me a bit miffed, ya know? I'd like it if I saw something more or less original. Not something that's shoehorned in for the sake of "I wanted to make it look nice by using something else to look nicer,"

I actually think a lot of NH fans have been acting much more childish than the NS fans. There was a lot of parallels between NS and Naruto's parents that I felt were foreshadowing Naruto and Sakura ending up together. There's also the fact that Sakura seemed much more worried about Naruto throughout part 2. That can be attributed to just being a good friend but she always seemed more worried about Naruto than Sasuke, who she claimed to have loved. Kishimoto having to explain away Naruto's feelings for Sakura as just trying to compete with Sasuke says a lot about the situation as well, especially when Naruto says he hates when people lie to themselves when he did that for almost 15 years with his feelings for Sakura.Β
Yeah your pairing won out, but there are fans like you who feel they are superior to fans like us that irritate me. Go take a look at the NS stories on Fanfiction. There are plenty of people who are getting flamed just because we don't bandwagon and continue to support the pairing we've been supporting for the last few years. I'm guessing that if NS had been canon, and actually shared a moment like this, then you would be in total support if a NH fan did something like what you're complaining this artist did.Β
Have fun trying to bully artists into not expressing their love of a Naruto pairing that is irrelevant in the real world.Β

Your fandom have crossed the line into illegal action since they have threatened Kishimoto and his assistants with death on Twitter and unethical by trying to have his manga banned for not getting the ending you wanted. Sakura was worried for Naruto but despite promising to help him retrieve Sasuke she played no role. Naruto lost his hand defeating Sasuke to keep his promise. Thanks for reiterating the hypocrisy it is wrong for Naruto to lie about his feelings but it was okay for Sakura to lie to the Konoha 11, Naruto and the team she assembled when it came to her actions in stopping Sasuke.

Because no one bats an eye at Naruto for lying about his feelings (which makes him hypocritical since he hates when people lie to themselves), heck they even treat it as a good thing and embrace it. Everyone lost their minds with Sakura and insulted her for doing such a thing. I'm not saying that was okay either, but it's not like she was praised for it.

Naruto had a crush on her when he was twelve going on thirteen. Sakura decided to lie about a matter that involved the safety and reputation of the village to sooth her own personal feelings. Everybody in the Konoha 11 made a consensus that Sasuke had to die for the greater good and Sakura lied to Naruto rather than tell him the truth. She put her personal issues ahead of her obligations.

True, he did mostly like her since he found her pretty, but he seemed to be one of the few to not mind how she looked since Sakura is considered 'unattractive'. And I felt it seemed he was growing to like her for who she was. At least Naruto and Sakura grew closer over time and she was starting to tone down and act more like her true self. Even then, it's still hypocritical that Naruto basically lied to himself for years, wasting his time crushing on Sakura only to suddenly decide he should hook up with Hinata with minimal effort, when he made it clear he hates when people lie to themselves. Protagonist of the year, everybody!
That's essentially why I can't stand SasuSaku, she's literally throwing her life away for a guy who never had a good connection with her nor did they ever grow that close for me to believe they had anything close to a genuine relationship, it's like Twilight/Fifty Shades of Grey bad in that regard and they're better off without each other. I really wanted Sakura to get over Sasuke since her crush on him was so idiotically shallow on her part, and it never seemed to develop from there. Yet they actually believe I'm supposed to take their relationship seriously... Heck, even SasuNaru makes more sense.

Nothing is hypocritical about it since Naruto's isolated background due to his demon container status made it hard to make friends or form any relationships until he became a ninja. Sakura is not a great protagonist she chose to succumb to personal issues and disregard her obligation to the village because of her feelings. She made Naruto clean up her mess and never thanked him when he saved her life twice. Sakura can lie to the other Konoha 11, use them and it is okay despite the face all she nearly accomplished was getting them killed?

Yeah, it is, you're only defending him for his past, which is a part of the writing. Everyone is selfish and hypocritical to an extent, and with Sakura, it's not like she had malicious intentions herself. The thing is it needs to be called out on if someone acts selfish/hypocritical because it leads to consequence (which is constant with Sakura's excessive hatedom because she's 'such a meanie, BAWW! Hinata's so much better cuz she's so nice and more attractive than her'), and plus, people were on board with the idea anyway so I'm sure they knew it would be a definite risk. I never said it was okay, but you blow it out of proportion just because she isn't a perfect angel. Naruto's no angel either, but they act like he's basically Jesus anyway.

So risking the security and reputation of the village for personal reasons is the same as romantic feelings. That makes no sense. Sakura is not a perfect angel but somebody else fixes her mistake or she never apologizes. You blow it out of proportion just as much since Sakura's obsessive fandom venerates her as a goddess justifying her flaws while condemning other characters. People were not okay with her idea since she lied to comrades she told the Konoha 11 she would tell Naruto about the consensus to kill Sasuke which she did not she told her group they would fight Sasuke together instead of she uses knock out gas on them and she fails to kill Sasuke because of her feelings for him. She is never seen apologizing to Naruto or the other Konoha 11 despite the fiasco she caused. Naruto is not a saint but he actually tries to repair the damage his actions cause while Sakura dumps the burden of a problem she caused on someone else. She did not contribute to rescuing Sasuke despite her promise and never thanked Naruto. She just called him an idiot.

They could've easily gone against her wish to bring back Sasuke. Here's the thing: Sakura has one of the most rabid hatebases I've come across, there are many people who hate her for really invalid reasons and make a big deal whenever she does anything wrong, or even nothing at all (like hating her for 'getting in the way of a ship'), plus they can never get over themselves on a fictional character. Her fanbase is willing to defend her to explain why they believe she is not that bad of a character. That's what people naturally do, there's nothing wrong with that. They're willing to throw Sakura a bone with how she's frequently bashed. I'm not praising her by any stretch here.
Look, you're going on and on about how double standard we are when you're possibly no better. You seem perfectly fine with how apparently Sakura should not move on from Sasuke because Kishimoto said it would make her a terrible woman if she did (whereas Naruto is allowed to move on from Sakura because, by that logic, you could say it would him a terrible man then?). THAT'S the double standard a lot of people are angry with. Moving on from someone is natural, yes, but since when does it mean it automatically make someone a terrible person for doing so? Why is Kishimoto claiming this about Sakura, yet Naruto is the one who gets off scott-free for doing so?
And you have to consider many, many other things besides the whole gender thing, there are people who hate a character for being evil/mean/rude but love another for doing the same thing.

OkagetheShadowKing In reply to Kitty-McGeeky97 [2015-08-20 18:20:59 +0000 UTC]
We have been angry with the double standard Sakura has perpetuated for years. She can do not wrong but other characters who do the same thing are condemned. Sakura is a main character so the expectations for her are bigger than supporting characters and lots of people feel she is inadequate. You somehow consider matters of the heart to be comparable to the safety of the village is disgusting but you insist the topics have the same weight. Did Naruto ever proclaim he loved Sakura or would make her his woman? He mentioned becoming Hokage, changing the Hyuga, rescuing Sasuke from the darkness, bringing an end to the cycle of hatred and protecting the village. All these promises were made with a resolution to fulfill them. Naruto mentions Sakura is cute but since when does that mean he has undying love for her. Naruto, Sai and Kakashi both note Sakura loves Sasuke. Why should Naruto trust her with his heart after she belittled his promise of rescuing Sasuke as she believed he was doing it for her despite always hearing Naruto state Sasuke was like a brother to him? Naruto and Lee matured and found people who appreciated them not someone who used them to try to solve a personal crisis and never apologized.

I NEVER said she didn't do wrong, I just think you're focusing way too much on her flaws.
Naruto having a crush on Sakura has been a part of his character for a lot of the series. While not that important, he had a clear fondness for her. Yes, it was mainly to be comedic relief but I saw more chemistry and development between them than the actual canon ships IMO. But if you really think I'm stupid and wrong just because I'm willing to throw a bone for a character who gets frequent flak by the fandom and for not being a slave to canon, so be it. I've seriously had enough.

Naruto had a crush on her but it never developed into romantic love. He had fondness for her but his friendship with Sasuke and wanting to rescue him from the darkness was more important than wooing Sakura. I saw no chemistry or development I saw Sakura use Naruto without considering his feelings until somebody told her the pain it was causing him and rather than discuss it she lies to him and demeans his efforts. Even after he fulfills his goal of protecting his friends he gets no gratitude from Sakura despite saving her life or rescuing Sasuke. You have your opinion and I have mine but I have had enough of tolerating a fandom that wants to ban Kishimoto's work because their selfish demands were not met or harassing his assistant on social media.
