So uhm, and I decided to start a personal project about drawing stuff which subject topic was a word from a random list. Every week we're gonna paint something different. Or so I hope. The first word was Heart. It was supposed to be a lil' skecth but I got excited. Or something.So this is my character Coltrane giving his heart to... You don't care, do you? Looking for ref for the pic was kind of gross...
So this is my oficially first pic of the year.

PS: I know an open chest like that with no heart wouldn't look like that. I didn't feel like looking for further goru ref.

Intresting and intriguing concept... kinda creepy.
BUT overall it's very artistic, the colours are great and in harmony and it's all nicely done...
Besides, it makes the viewer think - and that's awesome too!
Although I wouldn't display this in my room due to the scare factor

the picture and the coloring is very gentle as always. to me your art is really gentle and neat and clean haha that's the image i got imputted into my head about "Mayeo" and yeah your art give peace everytime i look at it.

Hahaha!! Well, I don't seem to be the only one then with the morbid fascination of people ripping their own heart out.
On a different note though: you're wrong if you think that I don't care about the story behind this picture. It would have been nice to read about it in your comment.
I think what I really like here is the contrast of colour. Ivory white together with this strong deep red (or purity against the impurity of a bloody savage ritual). What I don't like is, that the picture is a bit too flat.
You used your references wisely though.

I don't know if I had a "morbid fastination of people ripping their own heart out" when I did this xD It was unpredicted. I agree it looks flat as well.
About the story, well, I really don't care pretty much about other people's story, like, when they make an illustration and then write down poetry with gorgeous/emo/pretty words on it, or write down long narrative descriptions about the meaning of it. That just drives me mad and generally I jump off that part, prefering to interpret the topic by myself. Well, it's just my point of view. I prefer people not suffering from reading long explanations coming from me xD (beside the 'why' or 'techniques'

Personally I appreciate long comments and like to read comments in general, but I guess that's just one of my quirks. So, of course, I won't force you to write anything story-like, if it goes against your opinion (even though I did actually kind of tickle a pretty long reply out of you
