That was awesome! The split screen that way is genious!
I am not sure I understood at the ending though, when he calls the woman, by her reaction, I couldn't tell what he told her. What was it?

Nicely done- i like the way you've cut the action...obviously- its not always easy finding the best talent- I enjoyed the split screen idea- it worked in parts where it was showing two angles of the same action- Colour calibration of the two scenarios might have made it a little easier to follow- or a very deliberate contrast of temperature. Also shot selection- Good framing in most areas- maybe push for a little more depth of field in your closeups-
The story is a bit cliched- but then again- how many times have we seen the same plot?- its pretty much also how you tell the story. Well paced- though could be alittle pacier. Liked how you brought in the music from the gramophone and continued it into the shooting scene..... A few placed you could have snipped- so that the piece ran a little faster- the black screen when the first guy goes to sleep- maybe we shouldnt see for so long- but its an interesting first person/third person perspective.

Very well done! I love the thriller effect of the soundtrack and the B&W effect of taking pictures. Interesting that you insert the wife's frame right at the bottom of the screen, side by side to the killer - she is in his side, not in his husband's side.

Reminds me Timecode. [link]

Wow... What an interesting dynamic during the last minute or so; you can see both the hitman's perspective, and the husband's as well. Confusion and "job well done" come together great with this!
I love it!

Words would've ruining the ambiguity and empathy of the storyline, I thought that this two shot method was very interesting.

I have to say, that was certainly a good display of cinematography and plot development without dialogue or sound. It's a good attempt at a silent film. A good watch, and I believe you could have something beyond words on your hands not too far down the road. This could become a classic, if all's said and done. I hope to see more from you in future...

I love the simplist values of the two charecters and how you kept the film very true and humanistic towards life itself. The scenerio was brilliant, the regualar, everyday people just trying to make it in the world, suffering lust and depression and how everyone has a violence whispering in their ears. The fact that the veiwer got to choose where to look is also a phonominal idealisum and i enjoyed the fact that there were few parts where you could focaus on just one.

Congrats on making DD and i hope to see more of your work

Well though out idea (and a very unique one). Though spilt-screen is not one of favorites I really enjoyed it here.

Good story, I though it was very clear. Well executed and filmed.

Really nice timing here on the editing. An excellent sense of space is conveyed, and the synchronicity is spot on between the two actors. My only critique here is the pulse-checking fingers added in post are jarringly unnatural. I watched through that scene a few times, trying to decide if their extra motion was intentional, to draw attention, or just keyframes in need of a little tweaking.

Tiny hitch aside, I thought this was a very interesting short film with a lot of impact. Well done. A DD to be proud of.

I have to disagree with the comments about a more elaborate storyline, I think the subtlety is what makes it work so well. The silence (apart from the haunting melody near the end) is what separates this film from all the other ways this story couldve been done. It would be too easy to throw in lot of effects and noises, but in situations like this less is definitely more.

i kinda agree with the comment above me, there could have been a bit more background, but then the movie should have been longer, so i think it's very well done that, without anything said, you can still identify the characters enough to understand the plot.

i could go on , but you didn't even ask for critique ,
I thought it was very good

very nice! It seems to have a rather uneventful storyline though (ignoring the murder...) I would have preferred a more elaborate scenario with more planning, background, etc.
