Inspired by the original work of Graham Sumner I believe? 'Arms and Armour of the Imperial Roman Soldier' is a very good book despite what a lot of hard-core 'Romanists' say about it. The book puts forward some interesting theories concerning the armament of Roman soldiers.
I like the fact that you have gone for a more historical rather than stylictic approach to the legionary, and this is a job well done. This is a very impressive drawing. Well done, I hope to see more like this.

P.S another artist I would recommend for inspiration would be the great Giuseppe Rava, if you have not viewed his works already.
