i find that darker colors usually are more inspirational and can attract more feeling. Cosmic scenes are something that can convey emotion and music very well.
If you are looking for bright, show a forest or meadow. The fluttering butterflies would create a great ambiance with Latias.

the fact this image shows explicit detailing and catching feeling.
You got Latias' anotomy near perfect; and you know Latias wings can actually bend and not just stay stiff like many people think.
The perspective and emotion in this is one of the best I've seen
and that's why it has became one of the very few images on DA that I have faved.

Thank you very much for your praise. But I think it can still be improved.
The perspective...it's a little different from my original thought. I couldn't recall it suddenly when I was drawing this picture. It looks much better but the whole scene also become less expressive than I expected.
I want to make this picture itself more expressive and everyone can realize the meaning what I want to express without explanation. Unfortunately, I'm not always able to achieve it

unfortunately that is hard to perfect but It is obvious enough to spot in this image

that is something I need to practice.
also, what I see is that you take advantage of pressures in the colors of the fire, lighting, and a bit of the water.

Oh my, it's lovely 
The blue pattern on the bottom(I'm guessing it's water) adds a nice touch to the dominant color of reddish orange in this picture. That was definitely a good choice. The only thing that looks odd to me is the fact that Latias' face looks pretty blank. I typically remember seeing it with a more lively expression. Then again, that could be a style choice.

It's digital drawing and half rendered because I use my 3D for reference.
In fact, it's a little different from my original composition. I wanted to make its motion more active but failed. I'm lack of practice
