no, not per my understanding of what a fractal is.
It mostly gives the appearance of a fractal due to it using bitwise operators. Which, have a logorithmic pattern due to the bits being powers of 2.

you can save the full view to your computer.

PNG should be visible to all, what system are you using that can't view PNG?

Cool pattern, very quilt like. Have you read "A New Kind of Science" by Stephen Wolfram. This pattern reminds me of his ideas.

ah, I see how it looks like his work.
Though this image too is generated by a simple set of rules, it is essentially graphing a field. Wolfram's stuff, as I understand it is more like cellular logic rules that result in complex systems.
I did read his book, though I wasn't entirely convinced by what he was saying, I do agree that through simple systems on a micro scale can come wonderfuly complex results on the macro level.

I was seeing more fractal images than Wolfram was. He claimed a lot of images as being random, when many of the images had self simular cell images.

well, I wrote a program to make these.
I guess you could say I used C++ compiler.

The easiest thing to do is just learn how to write colors to the screen, and then do a screen capture.
That way you don't have to learn how to write file formats.

Zihautanejo:
Yeah, I knew about Sierpinksi's triangle... I just liked the irregular pattern that the mod 257 gives.
(Because 257 is prime)
(I like the XOR better though.. which is more true to the RSA algo form as well)

Cool! I hadn't thought of using logical operators except to make split functions.
Colour's easy - pick your colour mix, and then just multiply your current 8-bit values by the appropriate red, green and blue factors. As a bonus, bitmap file generation becomes slightly easier (you don't need to write a palette).
Incidentally, do you mind if I have a shot at recreating this? I won't submit it here or claim it as my own, I just want to see if I can do it.

Much obliged. I've recreated 'RSA and' and 'RSA or' - I had to write my own mod fuction, 'cause QBX kept throwing overflow errors. Was there any particular reason for the 'mod 257' as opposed to 'mod 256' or 'and 255'?
I kinda went crazy with the boolean operators - I've got about a dozen pictures to upload next time I'm on the net, almost all [-640,640) -> [-512,512) @ 1280 X 1024. I figure 'unit = pixel' will give the best images for now.
I'll let you know when I upload them - it's nice to come across someone who's actually interested in my geeky stuff. I think it's within my grasp, but thanks anyway for the offer.
-Patty

Great, let me know when you upload.
257 is a prime number, that is why I'm using that number.
(Technically, its a mersenne prime number .. Prime numbers that are +/-1 off of a power of 2 (not all are prime)

(otherwise patterns would repeat)

I've uploaded most of them, and I'm about to upload the rest (I'm having trouble uploading 1MB files).
Mmkay, that makes sense. Because it was so close to 256, I thought it might've just been a fencepost error.

Well, I could have made this colored, but it was more work, and also would make it more difficult to mess with.
I somewhat intended for this to be used as a texture or whatever. In which case, a full contrast greyscale image is most useful.
