Here’s Mickey Mouse posing with two lesser known cartoon stars of the Early 30’s,Flip The Frog and Willie Whopper. The reason I drew this picture is because Mickey(and Oswald’s)co-creator,UB Irwerks created these two characters after leaving Disney to start up his own animation studio and career as a independent producer with Disney’s distributor,Pat Powers and Future Looney Tunes Composer,Carl Stalling,accompanying him into launching his studio.

Even through Flip and Willie’s cartoons are quite fun and enjoyable due to the rubberhose style and Stalling’s wacky upbeat score,they kinda lacked the charm,storytelling,and characterization that Iwerks brought at Disney. Despite failing the capture the success Irwerks had at Disney,these characters remain well-remembered by fans of Irwerks and 30’s Rubberhose Fans.

anyway,Flip and Willie both can play the piano and I just find Willie’s catchphrase to be funny,”Now you Tell One!”,Since they were both created by UB Irwerks without Walt Disney, It would be fun if Flip The Frog And Willie Whopper were Mickey’s cousins since Iwerks was his uncle and Oswald was his brother.
