I thought it would be cool to have Captain America eventually wear a heavier armor in a later movie like Batman in TDK. He is still vulnerable and will most likely be in heavier problems than the events that happened in the Avengers.Just a redesign of his costume. The arm has a cool mechanism where thick metal plates pop out like feathers to protect him from gunfire/laser blasts, but can also be used for melee.
