Two years after the Fourth Shinobi War, Hani becomes Tsuchikage of the Hidden Stone as well as the jinchuuriki of Son Goku. After fully acknowledging her skills with Particle and Lava Style, the Third Tsuchikage Onoki finally steps down and gives the title of Kage to his pupil Hani. After her training with her childhood friend Kurotsuchi, Hani decides to depart towards the Water Screen Cave to find her "master" Son Goku. She was very happy to see him again, even hugging him on his head. The two talk about her old master Roshi and that she would be honored to become Son's jinchuuriki to which he questions. He admits that he did like Hani because of how sweet and caring she is and ultimately, though slightly regrettably, decides to become one with the young Tsuchikage, much to her delight.

When Hinata gets abducted by Toneri Otsutsuki, Hani receives an urgent message from her old friend, Kaede, for her assistance in rescuing Hinata and Hanabi. She arrives in time to defeat one of Toneri's followers. She and Son face off against Funkakou.
