On a wing and prayer. After the battle of Starbase 98, she couldn't go over Warp 3. Took two weeks to get her home.

This would go a long way to explain the design overhaul seen in THE MOTION PICTURE. It would make sense to rebuild the Enterprise almost from scratch if it had been trashed on its last mission.

If you check out my Nova Trek stories- especially books 5,6 and 7- it's a three part story- you'll see how it happened. As for the repairs, they'll take place in the book I'm working on now. I have 22 pages done so far- only 107 to go...

Ah. Does the program allow you to control the phases of a planet, like you have in this picture, or is that photoshopped in?

No you can move and rotate the planet by clicking on it before you save it.
