I actually did two versions of this; one in my usual style with vibrant colors, and then this one which I actually did accidentally when I was playing around with some stuff in Photoshop.
I could upload the other one as well, but I actually like how this one came out. I've been trying to get a "watercolor" or "pastel" like effect on my artwork for so long, and then I found it by just messing about.

I still don't really like how his right foot came out...

But, yea. Like I said in the sketch version, I've definitely fallen into this fandom. XD

I don't often do fanart anymore (welp, with the exception of a couple recent uploads), but...Asriel is a FURRY! I draw furries! C'mon...you all knew this was coming after seeing my other UT fanart, right? XD

Some SPOILERS ahead in the next part of the description here, so you have been warned.

My main purpose of trying to draw him was because I have an idea for a comic/story on how he can get a happy ending.
Technically, you do "save" him by saving his soul in the Pacifist run...but it's still heart-wrenching.

The way I figure it...he prolly went with Chara's plan because he didn't really understand what "death" was. It's pretty apparent that none of the monsters in the Underground attack each other (for the most part), and he lived a sheltered live in New Home.
He's also naive, innocent, and gullible; he had no idea what it meant for them to combine their SOULs together.
I believe what proves it is when you go back to the very beginning of the Ruins at the end of the Pacifist route, and he explains that he was the one who held back on killing the humans. He didn't know they would split control, and he didn't know what the full extent of the plan was.
To that extent, he was manipulated by Chara just like many others.

...at least, that's my theory on Asriel.
Either way, he didn't deserve to die. He was just another one of Chara's victims, really. Asriel did nothing wrong, and has a kind heart.
Though you save him from himself by remind him of who he was, he's still going to turn back into a flower...not exactly what one would call an "all around happy ending".
