Description
Now here is an OLD painting I made WAY BACK in 2004, back when I was attending my first year in college. I did this for my paint class, and I miraculously got a good grade for it. Featured here is Hazama Itsuru (the protagonist of 8-Man After) transforming into 8-Man in the style of Superman. To make this painting, I first did the outlines with a charcoal pencil. Then I covered the figures with frisket, and used an airbrush to paint the background and the aura. For the figures' colors, I used acrylic paints. Now, when I look back on this, I say it looks good mostly. But the proportions are somewhat inconsistent. But hey, I did the best I could at the time. I probably can do a better job now. Who knows? Maybe I will return to this again and remake it. Or maybe I won't. But I'll let you be the judge if this is good art or not.
For the record, my art teacher was a great guy with a good sense of humor. He also helped me out with this painting by giving me helpful tips on how to go about certain details like the shading, highlighting, and textures. My instructor even helped me with the highlights on Hazama's hair and face, and the pink on his bottom lip. And I remember when I finished this painting, he joked "So who is this guy? 8-Ball-Man?" to this, I simply chuckled humorously, and politely corrected him with "Actually, he's just 8-Man." This joke however, was echoed in the 1992 live action movie, where a thug question "What are you supposed to be? The 8-Ball-Man?!" which admittedly is kind of funny. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy.
