Description I am very proud of this drawing!

I decided to try something different with drawing, all I used was a nice pen, no pencil to start with like I usually do.
I think I did good. Sheep are kind of hard to draw. lol
I used this photo I took as a reference:
It took forever to draw.
Any drawing tips would be much appreciated

This is a drawing of my friend's late pet sheep Elsie and my dog Mojo.

I love it! You're right sheep aren't always easy but black dogs are even harder! you've created such a cute and striking drawing. And I'm very jealous of having a pet sheep

Thanks!!!
Sheep make awesome pets! She was brought up with a pack of dogs, she was scared of sheep but would go up to any dog They have tonnes of personality if you bring them up as a dog/pet

It's a really great drawing. Don't look for others to give you feedback tho - if you see beauty in your work that others do not, that should be enough to keep you motivated. It's nice to get positive comments.. but exciting yourself and working to make your next drawing better than your last should be the ultimate goal. The comments are the icing on the cake.

Your form is excellent and you have a good sketch-line.. I think you're ready to work on your highlights. Find the brightest and darkest spots in your image and focus on working between them. Build up your dark areas while keeping the lightest areas very light, almost untouched. Start out really light and continue to make several passes across the work - each time filling in the darkest parts and working toward the lightest areas.

For instance - you have some very light areas on the sheep toward the nose that should be highlighted more by pulling out the dark areas around the white. There are deep blacks on Mojo that could be darkened a bit to create better contrast, such as the inner nose area. Keep the eyes very detailed - they will ALWAYS be the "life" of your work.
You've done a great job here..

thankyou so much! this is the best comment i could have asked for, even if i should not be asking for comments

yes i need to concentrate more on shading... i can get a bit lazy with that but when i try it does look better so i need do more of that.. could youi explain more of what you mean by Start out really light and continue to make several passes across the work? sorry i dont understand it fully, it sounds really professional

and what would be the best way to draw eyes better? i am least happy with the eyes in this drawing..

thankyou very much for your great comment

Hi. I just meant - work out your light and dark areas at the beginning of your drawing and continue to fill them in as you finish the art. Start very lightly marking the areas you intend to be shaded, then fill in them in slowly while working on the rest of the details. Find your blackest spots and your whitest spots and work the grays in between them.
Sorry, I'm not sure how to explain it I guess.
