Description Just to show you I'm not dead.

I hate midterms. And finals. AND AP & SATs.

But there you are. That's the life of a highschooler I guess.

This was an experimental piece I did a long time ago, and it's really sucky, but I didn't have time to do anything digital lately. I've some major sketches on paper (that I sneakily drew in some of my more boring classes), but the scanner's currently broken.

Besides, I think if the scanner was fixed and I get those sketches scanned, I won't be able to resist coloring it. Which would be very, VERY bad for my scores, obviously.

So, in the meantime, feel free to suggest any way of getting better at digital painting and point out some of my mistakes in this pic.

P.S. The title is "Lost" because she looks lost. D: It was unintentional....but when it was finished that's how she looked.

yeah i did just found out that they did have a kid! thank you wikipedia. that's cool! why can't dc comics get your idea of creating a whole new line of teen titans with just titans/justice league's kids? teen titans: the next gen? that would be totally awesome!

Heh, thanks for thinking it awesome! It's not just me that had this idea, lots of other fans have also created their own line of next-gen Titans.

In "Kingdom Come", the comic where Mari comes out, Mari is part of a superhero group made of next-gen heroes, so DC also must have had that thought...though the Kingdom series was only a miniseries and not properly put into canon until recently, if I remember rightly. Or it still might not be mainstream.... I haven't personally read the comics, this is all stuff I've found on the internet.

yay for sortarealistic!Mar'i! She looks fantastic. You've drawn her skin and nose and stuff with this blurry, realistic style, and it contrasts nicely with the sharp, cartoonish lines you used to shape her face. her eyes are amazing too. they show this kind of sublte depth you only see in shojo manga, but the light is portrayed really beautifully.

only suggestion I have is to make her hair a tad bit messier. but that's only because i think it adds to the whole aura you've got going on here, and because I am completely and utterly jealous of Mar'i's awesome hair. how does she do it?

I just noticed - I forgot to blur her face-lines. I'm glad you like it though. I'm just amazed you noticed. Eyes.....

I'm actually not good at manga-type eyes, I usually like eyes to stay ROUND and not OVAL. AND I like eyes to be big but not cover half the face. (So, in conclusion, I like the american animation types...)

Calculus. I have a week full of tests staring at me straight in the face.

Shoujo manga CAN be pretty exaggerative...(is srsly scared by outrageous eye sizes sometimes) but I prefer mangas like Fullmetal Alchemist and D. Gray Man, whose eyes and faces are anatomically correct!

s with you. I had two spanish exams, three spreadsheet designs, a history timeline of China's trade and a big-time science lab report all squeezed into four days. Curse you poor academic planning!

SPANISH!!!! One of my most failed subjects EVAR. Like even counting French. Which was total havoc.

the exact same applies to me, only with math. i love my math teacher, but i despise the subject completely and utterly.
my spanish teacher is pretty erratic. once, she let us listen to spanish pop songs the entire lesson. then she gave the entire class detention. o.0

Lawl, I feel like she's staring into my soul. o_o

I love it! ^^ The colors all work so well together! And I've always just LOVED the way you shade hair. The only critique I have is that there's no detail to her lip area. Uh, what I think I mean is, you put a TON of shading into her neck and cheeks and stuff, but then you get to her lips and they're just kinda...flat.

I dunno if that's what you were aiming for, but, that's all I have to say. =3

You noticed the hair~!! I actually had Desertrose182's help on that one, though I did modify her technique to my style.

Ah the lips...................I don't know what to say! I just forgot she had lips, I guess.... And no, it was probably what I wasn't aiming for. Gotta watch that next time. Thanks!!

hmmm, well the only critique i can give is to blur out the skin more that way, it can look smooth. Other than, nice job with the coloring, speically the nose and hair

You like the nose? Thanks so very much! The nose is why I started drawing this in the first place. I got fed up trying to draw noses the animation way..all flat and stuff..it just didn't sit right with me. So I tried and I thought I utterly failed at it, but I guess it was all right then!
