“And there we go!”

“Wow, I look…wow.”

Sam looked himself over in the mirror. He had been skeptical at first, but Amanda had really managed to do it. A thickly padded bra, a blazer that hugged a little too tight around his shoulders, and entirely too much makeup later, the transformation was complete.

“Yeah, I’m good.”

Amanda held out her brushes, and Sam took them without thinking. She fished her phone out of her pocket and propped it up against the vanity mirror.

“Say cheese!”

Sam just stared at the phone with his mouth hanging open, not quite sure whether he should be okay with this. Amanda wrapped her arm around his shoulders, grabbing one of his hands and bringing the brush it held into frame just before the camera flashed.

Sam felt his face start to warm up, and he swallowed.

“Uh…what’s the picture for?”

“Relax, I’m not going to do anything with it. Unless…”

“Unless what?”

Amanda took her things back and put them away while she talked.

“Well, Jack asked me out, but his cousin’s in town, and he doesn’t want to leave him alone all night. I told him I would try to find a friend to come along, so he doesn’t feel like a third wheel. I totally get it if you don’t want to, though.”

Sam opened his mouth to say no, but stopped. How many guys got to try dating from the other side? It could be fun. And even if it went badly, this was just a one-time thing, right?

“Aw, hell. I’m in.”

Amanda was practically bouncing as she sent the picture of her friend “Sammy” for Jack’s cousin to see.
