i was riding my bike this morning. i saw a worm on the sidewalk and swerved, hitting a tree and dying instantaneously. my body lay crumpled on the ground as my spirit rose, observing the worm i had nearly annihilated. "oh, worm," i said. "how i love and respect thee. i gave my life for you. will you love me forever, as i do you?'
worms, as you may know, are beings of immeasurable psychokinetic power and spiritual essence. so this worm, they turned to me and said, " i forgive your tragic use of My name in vain. i love you, dear one. now ascend. you are free."
as i soared upwards, to the great space shuttle that held all the worms imaginable, i whispered again, "oh, worm, thank you. thank you."
