Description Mah first tutorial. I hope this helps someone. I actually had a lot of fun making it. Here are the links so's you's can clicks on 'em:

How to make a hat! [link]

ENJOY.

Edit: Some oven temperatures may vary, so it is definitely a good idea to check on your munny once in a while to make sure he is ok. Also, I have never had a problem, but I have heard that you should take the toy apart so hot air can escape (rather than explode!)

PLEASE let me know if I have not included important notes such as this and I will write them here!

Right? So much fun! They really got me back into art when it had become a bit boring, and now I'm heading into an art based career, so I guess I owe them a lot.Β

This tutorial is pretty old, let me know if you have any questions. For one thing, since I made this tutorial I've learned that it is smart to use a spray on primer before painting. Happy customizing!

Thank you so much for posting this! It is already proving to be very handy and inspirational

Some more info about Sculpey that may be useful (I'm sorry that the next bit came out looking like a novel):

I actually boiled the head of my little Toyer Qee figurine* somewhere between 10-15 minutes with the Super Sculpey on it, and let the whole thing cool down before taking it out of the water.

Boiling seems to cure the Sculpey more evenly, and is a method that means I don't have to worry about thinner bits getting toasted. (I think one would need a larger kettle or something for the components of the 8" figures, however)

I'm a total newbie when it comes to modding vinyl figurines, but I've done a few things {unfinished projects, mostly} purely in Sculpey and Super Sculpey where boiling was a lifesaver.

*the finished figure can be found here, if you're curious: Ood Sigma

Thanks! I am so glad it helped you! Also thanks for the extra info, I never would have thought about boiling the figure! So you just chuck it in the water and nothing bad happens?? That would be good for people who are paranoid of sculpey fumes in their oven as well..

I love your little ood!! You really captured his oodishness. And on a 2.5" qee! So small! I'm sure he is a cute little ood..

Hi! Yeah, I don't get any harsh fumes when I boil it, as burning doesn't occur, and the Sculpey cures perfectly.

I put the figure with Sculpey into a pot I have just for that purpose, add warm water from the tap, and slowly bring the whole thing to a boil. Once it's actually boiling, I leave it for about 5-10 minutes, then turn off the stove and let everything cool down together.

I haven't encountered any vinyl distortion while boiling (and I don't keep the boil going for very long, anyway) and since everything is unpainted when I boil it, I don't have to worry about messing up a paint job.

Thank you for checking out Sigma, and for your kind comments! I'm much happier with him now, as compared to what I did with him originally. I think he's probably much happier now, too, now that he has actual tentacles...

Thanks! I had tons of fun making it.

I feel like it doesnt go very in depth, and I also worry that I didnt include enough examples of other techniques (There are so many different ways to make munnies!)

If anyone has input, other good links, or cool methods they do, they can comment about it.
