My friend Aki let me wear her Asuka cosplay on Thursday night of Youmacon 2012~!Casual cosplay just to hang out in, nothing too crazy. I think my face is too long for her. Or I need more girly makeup. DX
I need to master the pissed off face. I'm just not good at it. :<

Wow, how lucky does Damien get, to not only get a cosplay of Misaki, but also one of his favorite anime characters, Asuka Langley as well?! You're being too good to me, Mary, whether you realize it or not!
I do agree that you don't quite have the Asuka face, but that's mostly practice and getting a feel for the character and personifying it; that comes with time, so its understandable if you're not spot on for something quick and casual. Asuka may seem pretty simple at first, but she's actually quite complicated; she needs to appear fractured and guarded, but haughty and superior at the same time, and getting that all going in the face and in the body language can be hard to do, since they're contradictory emotions, given her superiority complex.
If you ever cosplay Asuka again, on your own terms, I'm sure you'll do alot better.

My biggest problem is that it's been such a long time since I've watched/read the manga for EVA that I'm really disconnected to Asuka's character (I think I'm more like Misato...). She's most certainly a difficult character to portray!
My friend who let me borrow this also cosplays Rei, so maybe some cute yukata photos in the future or something?

That's definitely understandable. Fictional characters are just like memories; if we go long enough without revisiting them, the memory begins to fragment and blur.
In what way do you feel you're more like Misato?
Yukatas would definitely be a good choice, since there's just too many cosplays using the plug suits. Given that Rei and Asuka are polar opposites, there's definitely alot of potential for bringing out the cuteness factor and playfulness of both.
One thing I don't see anyone do really is cosplaying the characters outside of their usual school uniform or plug suit. It would be nice to see them in regular, ordinary fashion, like jeans and a tank top for Asuka, and maybe a dress and hat for Rei or something. There's lots of potential with these two that goes untapped because everyone is too fixated on what they wore in the anime and manga.
