Description Here's another preview of my work on the official Vampirella card set by Breygent

These are two single cards, you'll notice the one on the left has fleshtones, its one that I was able to colour with my skintones before they completely gave out.

Hehe one of the few I was really happy with, for some reason I had some really gimped faces drawn. I had a better ratio of faces I was happy with in series II.

I'm loving the outline and the 'shine' off her costume on the one on the left. On the right, I'm loving the form as well as the background colors

good thing is she's a vampire so you don't necessarily need the fleshtones. the one on the right is just as effective.

Agreed, I used warm greys on her skin on cards I had to colour after my skintones ran out - then I used cool greys on everything else so that they'd contrast.

ya i notice when people use warm and cool grays together they give the allusion of color really well. all i have are neutral grays. i gotta invest in some more markers.

I used a neutral grey to shade the red on her suit too, to keep from altering the colour too much. I have yet to figure out what my "tonal grey" are any good for haha! I only bought the odd number of grey tones - 1,3,5,7,9 - because I found the even numbers were useless unless you have a lot of money to waste. So that's about $40-50 worth of markers for 5 cool grey and 5 warm grey.

aw i have all the even neutral grays lol. lately ive been coloring sketches with crayon and it looks kinda cool. id be laughed at if i ever brought them to a con, but they're effective and cheaper than markers for now .

I just found the odd numbered ones worked better for me (and covered a slightly wider range) than the even numbers.

LOL I've seen crayons at a con! Coloured pencils work better though (less waxy too).

i suck with colored pencils haha. and they always break when i sharpen them

Quality pencils don't break too easily, but it helps to use a sharpener that does a shorter angle rather than a longer angle.

i had prismas. but i think they were internally damaged. cuz id sharpen. but the sharp part would fall right out. i was bummed cuz most of the ones in the box were like that

Ah yeah... I had the really expensive ones at the time and they did that too. Has to do with the quality of the way they're pressed into the wood.

I really love Derwent myself. Soooo smooth.

Create an account at dickblick.com and make sure the email newsletter gets sent to you. Right now the Copics are 25% off Though I started with a 72 set of the sketch markers, and add a couple new colours every year.
