Description
This is a lovely heather ladybird (Chilocorus bipustulatus), that I have photographed before, but this is the first time I got really nice look at its head. The colour combination is absolutely gorgeous. And since it's crawling in the open in February, it's one of the earliest beetles you can find outside. Other species are currently still in hibernation and will start emerging probably within the next two months. Now I remembered watching Hippodamia undecimnotata emerging en masse from underneath a cross monument.
