Description "You know, brethren," the other man said after the chiming quieted down, "just because you don't like to be hugged by the godling doesn't mean to get all dramatic on us."

The other guy sneered as he crossed the room. "It is not my fault the godling embraced me. Not his fault that he tried to, actually tried to gather the most powerful of all Absolutes in the multiverse."

I cleared my throat. "If I may impose by asking what is going on here?"

The two looked at me with disturbing intensity. Then they looked at each other and the dark-clothed guy jerked his head towards the clock. They went over there and talked in hushed voices as I walked over to the Minotaur.

"Who are they?" I whispered to them, trying not to be heard.

"Two of the eight Absolutes in the multiverse," he whispered back. "Their true names are known only to themselves, but you can call them Order and Chaos." He frowned at my expression of skeptism. "I am serious. They, as the names suggest, represent the forces of order and chaos. You can name another two, with a little thought."

"Good and evil?"

"Yeah, and including the four others: Void and Creation, and Fate and Destiny. They have been around since the dawn of time, and consider me to be a mere infant, thus the term 'godling'." He smiled.

"Aren't fate and destiny the same thing?" The Minotaur shook his head.

"No. Fate believes in free will: although they weave the tapestry with locked threads, they give every part in it absolute freedom. Destiny, on the other hand, demands that those parts have fixed lives, every move known and foretold and sometimes succeeds."

I looked at the duo, now arguing about something, and gesturing to the clock almost constantly. "But why are Chaos and Order here? Why not the others?"

The light-clothed guy raised his head and said, "Only because you are not supposed to be here, however we are believing to think that is not the case." He turned around, pointing at himself with his thumb. "I'm Order, as you may know, and he's Chaos," he pointed to the other guy.

"As you know, creature," Chaos said, walking over to me, "the godling and us two made a deal not to let anyone apart himself here. However, I think that Fate and Destiny are working together in this aspect of reality as a contest."

The Minotaur sputtered for a moment, trying to get his bearings. "Contest? Howso?"

"Fate allowed you two to come here, and for us to mingle. Destiny is now acting, setting up the meeting as a way to settle a wager between them."

"What kind of wager?" the Minotaur asked warily.

"Old myth versus new legends."
