Description Americas forgotten war.
Americas forgotten veterans.
Over 3 million American soldiers served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1975. The Average age was 19. Many of them were treated as inferior humans on their return.

Iraq is the new Vientnam. President Bushes plan to put his name in the history books.

Don't worry, your name will not be forgotten.

And who treated them as inferior on their return? Its not that difficult to answer.

And here I thought America has been obsessed about Vietnam all this time. We have been on a collective guilt trip and every conflict since has been compared by it. How about that little event that took place between 1950 and 1953. Sure it's not as glamorous as Vietnam but if you want to talk about forgotten then that's your ticket

America is hardly obsessed by Vietnam, but it comes up time and time again due to it's significance in modern day history, it was a huge event that touched every single person living in the USA, but do you hear people talking about when the US are not involved in conflict? No.

Guess who paid for the memorial to the soldiers who died in the Vietnam war? The surviving soldiers, not the Government. Nixon tried to forget about it as quick as possible.

And yes, the Korean war is hardly ever talked about, I'd imagine a lot of people hardly ever knew it happened. But I chose the Vietnam war because I see that war as something that showed the world how political injustice can effect so many millions of people, even those who weren't fighting in the war. Don't forget that President Johnsons 'Great Society' had to be put on hold due to the enormous costs of the war.

I would love to do peices that are in memory of people who have died in war, trying to protect themselves or their country but there are too many wars for me to cover. Peices I'd like to do would be the Armenian Genocide, Stalingrad, Jewish Genocide and Apartheid, but when you do peices on such important and polictical moments in time, you are bound to get some criticism from people with different views. I respect you for your views on the Korean war and your views on Vietnam, but I feel that the veterans need to be remembered.

I have also done another peice that remembers the South Vietnameise.

As I recall, it was more like 58,000 American casualties. Or are you counting all the ones who died in the US from agent orange exposure, etc? And you might want to put something in about the 4M Indochinese deaths.

I'm including the amount of suicides due to the Vietnam war that happned after US troops officially left Vietnam.

I am also planning to do some art to show how much the South Vietnameise suffered due to US troops. The My Lai incident is a good example of this and those who died unnessecarily shall also be remembered.

North Vietnameise who lost over 100, 000 men in the seige on Saigon also deserve our respect, unlike the Politicians who were so intent on winning a war that nobody cared about.
