Better yet, we should get Kyoshi's story and their inception.

That is beautiful. I especially love the pose on the upper-left girl. Graceful and powerful. Hair's cute too. There are some really nice touches in this piece; all the detail you pack into the gunsen fans, unique hair styles, and lots of fun shadows and lighting work.
Man, there needs to be more fanart of Kyoshi girls...

I still don't know how they're able to fight in those dresses.

I'd totally watch this show. But for now I'll enjoy this awesome picture, especially those poses. I notice they're not wearing hakama-type pants, but I suppose getting those sweeping dress-like kimonos are tough.

I'd have to dig through the reference archives to find it, but it's visible in several screenshots that they have more pants-like pants than hakama-like; that threw me too when I was making this.

Ah ha. I had to look through some screenshots, but I see what you're talking about. They have some fairly complicated uniforms there.

TELL ME ABOUT IT. There are a lot of lines on them, and they were a nightmare to paint for the originl cel; the uniforms only have a few colors, but the values are all fairly close to each other, and acrylic darkens as it dries (every individual paint/mix at a different rate, of course!).

YES. I wonder what happened to them in the new, post-war world. I'm sure the uniforms changed, and that is a sadness; I'd wear those outfits anywhere.
