Ah one of the reasons why I'm a little hesitant to try the series is because watching my brother play gave me motion sickness. TF2 and L4D2 have been the only FPS so far that I've been able to play without feeling like I'm going to vomit all over the place. :c

I think Team Fortress 2 has more rapid, zany motion than Half-Life 2. But I'm serious about the gift thing. If you'd like a free copy of Half-Life 2, I have it right here for you.

I know, which is why it's weird that I get motion sickness in HL but not in TF2. :SĀ

What if you skipped over the parts that would make you sick? Most of the game is simple walking around and shooting things and watching characters talk and move around you. The only parts that might make you sick are brief portions of the airboat and sand buggy driving parts where there's a small chance you might flip, and in that case you could just manually load the next map using the dev console.

It's not the camera-flippy stuff that makes me sick, it's the moving-the-camera-at-all-including-walking-and-aiming that makes me sick. It's a problem that I've got with all fps games, aside from TF2 and L4D2 for some reason. I can't really explain it; it's just a thing that happens.

If you can handle it in L4D2 and TF2, then something tells me that with practice, you'd be able to handle it in other FPSes like HL2.

Believe me, it's not a lack-of-practice thing. I can't explain it, and either way I'd rather not subject myself to vomiting for the sake of practice just because it's a good game

oh she was. my friends and i waited like 40 minutes in line to get an autograph from her. i didn't have anything for her to sign so she signed my con badge xD. also i think her husband voices the sniper in tf2, so that's pretty cool
