if you use photoshop try sharpening with these 2 methods:
1) after resizing your photo, duplicate the layer then apply the unsharp mask filter with strength 500% and radius 0.5, threshold 0, then go to "EDIT" and go fade effect (i think thats waht its called, on WIN use shortcut STRG+SHIFT+F) and select Luminosity at 60%.
then you can reduce the layers opacity to your liking in terms of how sharp you need your image to be or you can alternatively use a layermask to apply selective sharpening.

2) instead of 1, you could also after resizing your photo use the Smart Sharpen filter with strength (depends on your image), radius 0.2 or 0.3 and with the method "Lens Blur" instead of the standard "Gaussian Blur" selected.

i personally sharpen in the beginning of the editing process after i apply noise reduction then once more after resizing for web. i use method 1, not 2 but its really up to you

yep just did a few tests, big difference - I also hadn't been using unsharp mask like that - not sure I understand how it works setting the blend mode to luminance??

well after you apply the filter, go to the "EDIT" menu up top, select "FADE FILTER..." then you can select the blendmode in the window that pops up, i usually use luminance and 60%

this turned into a bit of a french lesson for me.. very good.

i personally think it looks better in colour, just had a look in photoshop how it would look in B&W and i think it looses its impact

je l'aurais means I would have
je l'aurais préféré, I would have prefered

I'm not quite sure about the " prefered " since my last english class was a year ago, but anyway
