Personality: Lucas is an extrovert, and always has been. Determined, enthusiastic, and passionate--he chases what he wants and usually gets it. He is a natural leader, although this can get him into trouble with authority figures on occasion. He can be moody and impatient, which sometimes rubs people the wrong way but there can be an upside to these traits as well: he doesn't stay down for long, and he gets things done quickly. Lucas can be susceptible to peer pressure and goading if he's not careful. He knows this about himself and so tries to compensate for that and check himself if he starts getting carried away. Thanks to his adoptive mom, he's learned how to be a pretty hard worker!

History: Lucas had a childhood that wasn't exactly what kids dream about. He can very vaguely remember being taken from his biological mother's care about the time he turned four, but he didn't fully understand what was happening. He was afraid and lonely, and after several years of shuffling around foster homes and struggling in school Lucas' innately gregarious demeanor was obscured by shadowy misbehavior. In class, playful antics became disruptive pranks and innocent clowning morphed into obnoxious showing off. Fights with his foster siblings became more and more frequent. Lucas couldn't ever take a hit well, but he was unfortunately good at instigating trouble and eventually developed strategies to annoy and harass others until he came out of conflicts with the upper hand. His tricks and jokes became progressively more mean-spirited. His actions drove others away, and unconscious attention-seeking became his pale substitution for the meaningful connections that he craved. As he grew Lucas became entrenched in a viscous cycle; acting out to greater extremes, getting into trouble, then escalating his behavior. None of his foster homes were bad, they were all run by people with good intention and desire to help, but Lucas was a challenging case and many foster parents found themselves unequipped to handle him.

When he entered high school, Lucas started to find approval and (what he considered) friendship with a few upper classmen who were even more destructive and unruly than he was. They found his prankish tendencies amusing and because he was eager to please, he could be easily talked into doing things that they wanted. With them he started shoplifting, vandalizing, and trespassing. Through them, Lucas got tangled up with a gang of genuinely nasty individuals and seemed to be headed down a road there was no turning back from. And then... he got transferred to a new foster home. Again. This time was different though. His foster mother, Adaya, was fiercely committed to loving him, even though he was apparently determined to throw his life away with bad decisions. She could see good in the boy and she wasn't about to see it lost. The first six months together was a challenge, but with kindness and a bit of wise structure Adaya was able to gain Lucas' trust through undaunted love for him. She gently made him realize that the loop he was trapped in was born out of insecurity, the constant fear that he wasn't worthy of love from others and with her help Lucas was able to break it. He had to cut himself off from the toxic people in his life, and he had to retake his senior year of high school to earn his GED but with her help and loving guidance he was able to turn things around.

With his sense of self worth and inner confidence growing, Lucas really came to understand how poorly he had viewed himself, and how... wrong he had been. It took someone else changing his perspective and opening his eyes for him to find his value, and he realized that that gift from his foster mother was something he wanted to help give other people. If he could show them they were worthwhile, maybe he could make others' lives better too. Adaya was encouraging and supportive of this desire in him, and as he was looking into career options after high school, she suggested cosmetology school to him. He decided to pursue it, and has loved it ever since. Adaya had helped him realize that he was insecure and that he had more potential than he realized, he just needed someone else to show him it was there and that's his whole philosophy on being a hair stylist! If he can show people how great they can look on the outside, maybe in a small way he can help them see themselves with new eyes and maybe find self assurance they didn't know they had. He likes building up other people's confidence and making them feel good about themselves.

After finishing cosmotology school, Lucas worked in a salon until he could earn enough to open his own business. He found an affordable place to rent and set up shop in Raccolto. He named his salon Hairway to Heaven and he's been working hard to establish himself ever since!

He can teleport within his line of sight, he can melt into and move around in shadows (and when he's occupy a shadow he affects the ambient temperature), he can create illusions that last for 1-40 seconds depending on how long he decides to hold it, and he levitates in his sleep. He is unaware that he sleep-floats, and levitation is not something he can do voluntarily. Eventually in the future he might learn how to phase through doors/walls but if I decide to do that, it's a long way off.
