EDITI fixed everything. I was just so very displeased with the last one.. I couldn't leave it. I went back and detailed everything the way it should be and brought out the colors the way I wanted. I hope you all still like!

Meerin stood next to Hiro looking up at the ever brighter sky, watching as one by one the stars dissapeared into a light blue.
"Geeze mom.. why do we have to be up so early.." Hiro yawned and scratched behind his ear.
"The air is just so much more clear at this time". She turned her gaze towards him now. "Ready for another lesson? I don't want to rush you". Hiro took a deep breath and stretched.
"Of course I can do this, I only fell last time because you distracted me!" Meerin laughed then stepped away to give him room. With a wisp of energy her body was transformed into her dragon self. Soon followed by Hiro.
"The sun is almost up! Lets see if you can reach the clouds before it catches you!" She leapt over the ledge and with a heave of her wings launched herself upwards. Hiro, intent on showing up his mother, spread his wings and attempted to mimic her. His powerful flap, however, was not angled right to push himself upwards, rather he started to spin. In a panic he tried to straighten himself only to push himself down.
"Mom!" he closed his eyes terrified, sure he was going to be crushed on the rocks below. Then he felt a firm grip around his chest and arms, and a strong gust lift him upwards.
"Hiro I told you not to rush it. If you can't do something, don't just go and do it.. you could hurt yourself.." the worry in her voice made him feel guilty. "Please, don't do that.. now on the count of three im going to let you go..."

First off, SWEET picture. The angle, the detail, the lighting. Everything is perfect...except one nagging thing. The leading dragons tail. It seems to be underneath the red dragons wing. Is that how its suppose to be? To me it should be in front, blocking the red dragons wing. Other than that, this is great!
Oh, and one final thought, just looking at the picture, it looks like the red dragon is chasing the black dragon but reading the story its just a flying lesson.

Ah yes the tail is supposed to be behind the wing, the lead dragon is much larger than the little one, his wings are splayed upwards rather then out while she is outstreched flying forward. putting the tail in front would suggest she was either smaller or the same size. Their positioning is more of a playful set up. Maybe not exactly a cut from the story below but happeneing around the same time. He isn't suppose to be chasing her, rather flying upwards, or trying to, while she taunts and flies around him.
Though I appreciate critique I didn't request it on this one, there was a lot wrong with it that I knew about when posting *a lot of anatomy issues that don't match with reference* and since my membership died a few hours ago, I guess it wouldnt be set up for it anymore anyway :\ (damn ads are back D8)

Okay, now that you mention the size difference, yeah, it does look correct. So it was me! So Hiro is the red dragon and Meerin is the black dragon.
Sorry, didnt know I was really critiqueing it. As for anatomy issues, care to elaborate? I dont really see any problems other than that tail that is correct.
And yes, no membership sucks. I let mine go for about three days and had enough with the ad BS and bought another year.

Anatomy issues, oh sooo many! Her wings are much to short and at an odd angle, and her arms aren't in the right place, her wings should be carrying on off her shoulders, while in this they appear to be seperate all together. and poor hiro XD looks like his face was hit with a shovel.
I hate the advertisments so much.. I mean it would be ok, but sometimes I leave DA open in a different tab and I hear constant clicking of the ad changing, or when browsing the ad's with sound make me so angry.

Okay, good, Im just trying to give more constructive comments than the "cool drawing, fav!"
You, Meerin, have the same problem I have! In [link] I only enjoyed the finished product for about five minutes...then I noticed the imperfections. The PRR logo is too wide, the "Mating worms" logo (2nd on left) is leaning, the other two logos should be thicker to make them stand out. The cab and nose is leaning a bit to the right The spring between the wheels is leaning to the right and the rail is not level. Oh, and the overall work, you can clearly tell its pencil...Im aiming for photographic here! But its these imperfections that only we artist notice that make us better!
Same goes for your drawing, only when you mention them do I really notice. The wings, yes, the arms, yes and yes Hiro's face looks pretty ugly. But regardless of that, the feel of this makes it...to me...one of the best dragon drawings on DA!
Oh, and I see DA is offering that buy one get one free again! If only I waited! I bought a subscription for myself and my sister as her XMas gift.

Yeah so many things that only we notice XD I have quiet a few like that. As soon as you point it out they go "Oh I never noticed!". We cant be perfect though, so I try to accept the little mess ups and learn from them
Thanks again, I think the best part of this picture though is the sunrise happening in the background. I was only able to do that because of a beautiful picture reference =Lianaya gave me while I was working on it. I was able to get the colors as close as possible because of it
And yeah DA seems to offer that every christmas season. I forgot about it because I thought they did it already. Lianaya usually buys it for me at this time of year *which is why my old one ran out at this time* But this year I paid her back

Yes, it wouldnt be the same without the sunrise. Sets the mood! Very eye catching.

Thank you! I actually wasn't very happy with how this turned out at all. the background I liked but there just wasn't enough detail in the two characters. I am currently going over it again right now adding in all those little details I wanted.
