I think it's because they didn't plan on making a sequel to Happy Feet, but then they suddenly came up with an idea. We needed to tell that it was Mumble, even though we could tell by his blue eyes and tap dancing.

this got me confused to. But if you've noticed, in some Happy Feet 1 books, Mumble actually loses all of his fluff by the time the story reaches the part where he jumped off the cliff to chase the boats. so......WTF?! I get your anger or confusement to Warner Bros...

Or maybe that's how everyone remember Mumble with his half baby feathers on him. But I watch the movie so many times I really wanted Mumble to have his baby feathers where they were at the end of the first movie. Like when I heard there was a happy feet 2 out I was like soo happy because Mumble was gonna get his baby feathers off. But he didn't which made me mad

I actually saw some rare pictures of Mumble with no baby feathers at all, and they were official too, it looked so weird for him. I think he looks much better with the baby feathers.
