It starts out as white and then changes to a bright orange before this colour.
This is the most flowers it has had on it

I had never heard of them before I got this one.
I was afraid to try it cause of our cold winters, but
it is doing very well.

I haven't seen any in our local garden centres...but I live in Northern England which is alot colder than than the South!....We saw lots of different things on holiday...but that was in the south.I'll look on the internet ...I just love the look of it...The nicest tree we've got is a Chinese lace!

Oh, it is a beautiful tree. Try to see if you can find a picture in full bloom
I'll see what I can find about it's natural environment.
And if I'm not mistaken, I still owe you a pic of Mr. Elliot! I just remembered that

My pleasure dear Kate. I hope you have a wonderful birthday

There is a place not far from where I live that is called Spindle Tree Gardens. They have acres of flower gardens, ponds, stream beds, groves of trees and a tea room/cafe. It's a lovely place to spend a few hours. They have three of these trees in the front and it was the first time I had seen them. Fell in love with them instantly. Took a while to find one though. Mine is now three years old and three feet tall

cactusmumkate In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-15 13:44:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh that sounds really nice! I will plant some of them in my garden, too next year
We bought a house and renovate it for some month..will be a dream come true to me to create a garden of my own.
I know you love to do that, too!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeFlyingFree In reply to cactusmumkate [2012-10-16 04:22:50 +0000 UTC]

Hon, I wish I could give you some of my plants!:d
I have to scale down as I have no time for them. seems a shame
too. I have put almost 20 years into my yard.
I hate to see them go, but right now they look awful

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cactusmumkate In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-17 20:59:45 +0000 UTC]

ohhhhh what a pity..well who knows how I will feel about my future garden in 20 years

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeFlyingFree In reply to cactusmumkate [2012-10-18 04:36:47 +0000 UTC]

It isn't really that I feel differently about looking after them or
love them any less. I just have no time any more.

cactusmumkate In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-18 11:39:29 +0000 UTC]

MeFlyingFree In reply to cactusmumkate [2012-10-18 11:43:27 +0000 UTC]

still wish I could send them too you. I know you would look after them
and love them. Most of my perennials I have had for many years.
They are like my babies

cactusmumkate In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-18 11:45:40 +0000 UTC]

I donΒ΄t know if you can send plants to europe..but I am afraid they will not make the customs
You should give them away or sell them...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeFlyingFree In reply to cactusmumkate [2012-10-18 11:50:25 +0000 UTC]

No, I know you can't import/export plant life.
I am giving them away, but most are going to some of my garden
jobs and I just hope that they will be looked after.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cactusmumkate In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-18 12:49:52 +0000 UTC]
